ABSTRACT

As an engineer, we have enjoyed applications of coding and information theory in various computing and communication systems. Recently non-standard models of computing are emerging such as quantum computing and DNA computing. The success of these models depends on the error control in such systems. Various models of DNA computing has been proposed since its discovery by Adleman and error control in DNA computing remains a big challenge. In this introductory talk we consider a new model of DNA computing called algorithmic self-assembly (ASA) developed by Eric Winfree. We will present an overview of ASA and discuss error control in DNA self-assembly. We will analyze this for the toy problem of binary counter and also present our error correcting mechanism to binary counter.
